The 2020 summer series of Love Island has been canceled. This announcement was a result of the ongoing threat of the coronavirus pandemic.
For over two months now, COVID19 has taken a toll in almost all types of sector over the world and the film industry is no exception.
Numerous studios have been forced to put production works on pause. They are left with the choice of either canceling or postponing upcoming releases.
The cause of its cancellation is the worldwide pandemic
The upcoming season of Britain’s popular reality TV show Love Island has also been canceled because of the coronavirus. The director of Television at ITV, Kevin Lygo, made the announcement.
He then explained that there was simply no way the show could go ahead, given the current UK lockdown. The director further said that they had tried every way to launch Love Island this summer.
However, it’s just not possible to produce it. As of now, their priority is to safeguard the wellbeing of the whole crew. If not for the lockdown, the team would have been prepared already to travel out to the villa in Mallorca.
When will it air
The director apologized to all of the people who were looking forward to the release of the TV show. In order to provide a little ease, he revealed when Love Island would return.
He stated,
“We are very sorry for fans of the show but making it safely is our prime concern and Love Island will be back stronger than ever in 2021.”
In the meantime, Love Island fans can still enjoy all six series of Love Island on distinct streaming platforms.
