Love Life season 2 has been confirmed, but fans will have to say goodbye to Anna Kendrick now. What’s the second season going to be about?
HBO Max’s anthology series Love Life is getting a second season. It was announced just hours after the last four episodes arrived on the fledgling streaming service.
The show has been well-loved and received by subscribers since it dropped on May 27. That is why it’s clear why many are excited now for Love Life season 2.
But if they loved the show because of Anna Kendrick’s Darby Carter, they will have to make some adjustments as she will no longer be the star then.
Season 2 plans
It’s been known from the beginning that the series is an anthology, which means that it’s not continuous and every season tells a different story.
But even so, many have come to adore Darby that some are having a hard time letting go.
Fans have nothing to worry about, though, as it’s expected that series creator and co-showrunner Sam Boyd and co-showrunner and executive producer Bridget Bedard have a lot of wonderful stories in store for its viewers.
It may not be goodbye for Kendrick. According to Vulture, Kendrick may still be making some appearances occasionally.
The Pitch Perfect star is also an executive producer of the show, so it’s hard to get rid of Darby so easily. It’s just that in season 2, the focus will shift to a new character’s journey.
As revealed in the press release, Love Life season 2 will still be set in the heart of New York City.

And just like in the first season, it will be telling the new character’s story of love, “one which explores what happens when you’ve lived your whole life knowing who your soulmate is, only to find out years into a marriage that it’s not the right fit at all.”
There are no further details yet on the cast lineup. But considering it’s HBO Max’s top performer since its premiere, fans are expecting top stars as well.
Producers’ response
The people behind the show are overwhelmed for the support that they have received for Love Life.
Kevin Reilly, Chief Content Officer at HBO Max, President, TNT, TBS, and truTV told Deadline: “It’s so rewarding to see Love Life embraced as an immediate hit. We are proud to pick up a second season of our first Max scripted original comedy.”
Meanwhile, Kendrick calls the show “labor of love.”
“I am excited to be able to collaborate again with the team on a new character and their journey,” she said.
