‘Lucifer’ season 5 details plus Tom Ellis’ Netflix deal confirms season 6

Lucifer season 5 has been confirmed, and it will not be the last as initially planned. It was extended for another run after Tom Ellis signed a new deal with Netflix.

Fans almost didn’t get the chance to see Lucifer season 5 since the show was already canceled by Fox Network just after three seasons.

The cancellation pushed many fans to create a petition for the drama, and thousands have signed. The overwhelming support of the viewers caught the attention of Netflix.

As a result, it acted swiftly by taking the series under its wings. The American streaming service provider bought the rights to air the drama and things picked up from there.

Netflix was able to prove that it made the right decision when season 4 became a hit worldwide.

The confirmation of season 5

In February, co-showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson, have signed a new contract with the streaming giant. This deal officially confirmed the new order for the production of Lucifer season 5.

“We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms,” Deadline quoted the showrunners as saying after the show’s renewal.

They added, “Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!”

The fifth drama installment is offering 16 episodes instead of the usual 10, so fans will enjoy longer viewing time.

The episodes of Lucifer season 5 are set to be released in two parts. Once the first eight stories aired, there will be a short break, then Netflix will drop the remaining episodes.

A musical special offering in the penultimate season

It was revealed that Lucifer season 5 would be different from the previous installments because a musical special has been prepared.

In the tenth episode titled Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam, the viewers will see Lucifer Morningstar singing and dancing for the first time.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Modrovich said: “We wanted to have a real grounded story reason why they’re singing and dancing, and not just, ‘Oh, this is going to be the one where everybody sings and dance.’ It’s super fun, and it’s going to be amazing.”

Tom Ellis’ new deal paved the way for the season 6 finale

It was reported that Ellis signed a new deal with Netflix, and this secured the production of the sixth season.

There is no official announced yet, but everyone involved in Lucifer season 5 has agreed to work on another season that is probably the last.
