The Queen of Pop, Madonna, is reportedly planning her biopic and wants Ozark actress Julia Garner to play her on the big screen.
Fans believe that Garner is the pop superstar’s personal choice after Madonna followed her Instagram. The singer’s manager Guy Oseary also did the same, while Garner followed both personalities back.
This prompted more speculations that Garner is in talks to do the biopic. Twitter and Instagram are abuzz with the stars’ recent activities. Madonna and Oseary also recently followed director Taika Waititi and singer Lana Del Rey.
Teasing the biopic
For months, Madonna has been giving fans ideas that she’s working on her biopic with the award-winning writer Diablo Cody. The scribe won the Oscars for Best Screenplay in 2008 for the movie Juno.
Madonna has also been sharing vintage photos of herself, as well as clips from her highly-successful The Blonde Ambition Tour in the 1990s. According to reports, conversations between Madonna and Cody included the iconic cone bra that the Material Girl wore for the opening of her tour.
There were plans to make a film about the events surrounding this concert years ago, but the pop star reportedly didn’t like the script from Elyse Hollander. So, Madonna is taking charge and working on the movie about her life.
Speculations are that she wants to replicate the success of Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman. Both biopics about Freddie Mercury and Elton John have been certified box office hits.
Getting to know Garner
Garner might have been a top choice for the biopic because she closely resembles the pop superstar. She’s a blonde with curly locks, and she has, undoubtedly, the acting to play Madonna.
Before earning her Emmy Best Supporting Actress award as Ruth Langmore in Ozark, Garner worked in the series The Americans and movies like Martha Marcy May Marlene and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Garner is a Jewish, born and raised in Bronx, New York. Her father influenced her in the arts. The young actress had her debut in the theater’s stage at age 17. Sopranos creator David Chase was one of the first people to give her a break on the screen by casting her in a small role in his movie Not Fade Away. She made her biggest mark in the Netflix series Ozark with Jason Bateman and Laura Linney.
Reps for Garner has not yet made any comments about her potential casting in the Madonna biopic.
