Maggie Rhee’s comeback in ‘The Walking Dead’ season 10 changes storyline

Lauren Cohen’s Maggie Rhee blazes her way back to The Walking Dead season 10 finale. Moreover, her return paved the way for more story spin-offs.

Showrunner Angela Kang explains how the COVID pandemic forced restrictions changed The Walking Dead season 10 finale plans. Gabriel did not die as expected, and the episode introduced the Commonwealth community.

After a two-year hiatus, Lauren Cohan reprises her role as Maggie Rhee in the 16th episode of The Walking Dead season 10. She rescued Gabriel as seen in the episode, A Certain Doom. She also revealed that she has been residing in the Commonwealth.

Season spin-offs

In the comic book series, Gabriel goes head-on with Beta in their final bid to take down the whisperers. In the revised season finale, Maggie bursts in and pulls Gabriel to safety. Joining Maggie is a mysterious scythe-wielding masked character. Reportedly, he is from the community and acts as her personal bodyguard.

Avid fans expected a bloody battle between Beta and Daryl. Beta was charging Negan and did not see Daryl approaching him from the back. Daryl stabbed Beta in the eyes and sealed his death. It was a slow and sweet death for Beta. Avid fans saw him welcoming death so peacefully.

On the other hand, the cast and crew are preparing to film the bonus episodes amid the coronavirus pandemic. Furthermore, the six new episodes will debut in 2021 via AMC.

“The Walking Dead” season 10 bonus episodes

The bonus episodes are the prequel episodes to The Walking Dead season 11. They will likely explain story gaps and filling parts of the plot leading to the TWD final series. Avid fans will get to see more of Maggie Rhee’s adventures.

In the tenth installment, viewers saw that Connie is alive and well.  Sadly though, she will not be making an appearance in the bonus episodes. EP Angela Kang clarified that they have a big episode stored for her in the eleventh installment.

The last minutes of episode 16 reveal Eugene, Ezekiel, Princess, and Yumiko surrounded by an armored group. Eugene and company breathed a sigh of relief after finding out that the armored group is the elite Commonwealth soldiers. The Commonwealth is a group of some 50,000 survivors who have settled in Ohio.

TWD “life” after season 11

The announcement of TWD ending with its 11th installment came with a character spin-off for Daryl and Carol. On top of that, showrunner Angela Kang revealed that there are plans for an anthology series for TWD.
