A recent Apple patent information has revealed that the iPhone might have MagSafe support instead of a lightning port in the future.
Although it cannot be fully confirmed, MagSafe connectivity for charging most Apple devices seems likely. The latest patent of the California tech giant is dropping hints for the new iPhone models.
iPhone and the significant return of MagSafe
Apple submitted a new patent to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Patently Apple reported. And it focuses on a three-pinned MagSafe charger.
The information regarding the patent didn’t precisely mention iPhone, though. But the concept image showed a MagSafe charging pin along with the bottom side of an Apple device. And by the looks, it seems to be an iPhone.
So one possibility is that there will be a big return of MagSafe after a very long period. Firstly, its cases and wireless charging arrived for 2020’s iPhone 12 lineup. And now this new patent filing is giving hints about what’s going on.
Is that an indication for an end to the current lightning port legacy heading into the future?
Well, it’s too early to say that. But there is some probability of that happening if the patent details are anything to go by.
New Apple products in 2021
Meanwhile, the California tech giant is preparing for the announcements and reveals of this year. While there is no official word regarding a significant event, current rumors are hinting towards something big.
After the recent release of iOS 14.5 beta 3, it is clear now that AirTags are coming soon. Because the Find My app now shows the option to find items by default. And that’s directly associated with the AirTags since they will help search multiple Apple devices or accessories.
Other products to arrive in 2021 include AirPods Studio, the flagship-level headphones. Due to several issues, they didn’t get released last year.
In June, there will be the WWDC event which is highly-awaited. Its main highlight will be the next software version from the company, iOS 15. As per tech enthusiasts, it’s supposed to come with many new privacy-based features. Plus, a new UI design is rumored as well.
However, all eyes will be on the next iPhone lineup. It will be launched before the end of the year, as always.
Currently, the iPhone 13 is surrounded by many speculations and possibilities for its looks and specifications. While some say that it will have no ports and a 120Hz display, others are pointing to a 1TB storage option.
