This Is Us actress Mandy Moore finally breaks her silence after ex-husband Ryan Adams released a public apology. Moreover, the actress described his apology as nonsense and empty.
During the airing of The TODAY Show on Monday, Mandy Moore finally spoke out regarding her husband’s public apology. This came to be because of the women who had accused Adams of his alleged abuse last year. Adams got accused of being manipulative, controlling, and obsessive. However, Adams denied those claims at that time.
The one-year delayed apology
Adams addressed the accusations regarding his involvement with women and their experiences with his abusive behavior. Furthermore, he claimed that he had since become sober. To prove his point, he had written a public apology sent to the Daily Mail. He said:
“I will never be fully accountable for my harmful behavior and will be for my actions moving forward.” Also, he posted a series of tweets after his article was published, apologizing “to anyone I have ever hurt, however unintentionally.”
I am not a perfect man and I have made many mistakes. To anyone I have ever hurt, however unintentionally, I apologize deeply and unreservedly.

His apology is for the women who had come forward with their claims of his inappropriate advances and harmful pursuits. Recently, musician Phoebe Bridgers spoke against Adams.
Adams and his confusing sincerity
Adams stated that he is, indeed, “sorry”, and even swore that “this time is different”. For Mandy Moore, she believes that “this time” has little to no difference from his past actions. NBC’s This is Us actor also responded that she has not heard from Adams, nor has he apologized to her personally. Besides, the apology baffled Moore since he has given a public apology but failed to speak to them privately to make amends. She said:
“I am speaking for myself, but I have not heard from him, and I’m not looking for an apology necessarily, I just find it curious that someone would sort of do an interview about it without actually making amends privately.”
Adams married Moore from 2005 until their divorce in 2015. At the time of their six-year marriage, Moore described their relationship as dark and lonely.
Moore brushes off Adams’ empty apology
The singer added a tweet following her interview from Today. Her message served as a response to all the people who had given attention to Adams. She indirectly called the apology as “nonsense and empty, and performative acts of contrition”. Moore even asked the people to focus more on pressing matters in their country.
And can we also just move on from giving space to this nonsense and empty, performative acts of contrition and focus on real news? Like #JusticeForBreonnaTaylor. https://t.co/x7rMDZdUNG
