Marvel Studios refuses using CGI for ‘Black Panther 2’

Marvel Studios has been well-known for finding the best angle in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to create a story. This time, they revealed the future of Black Panther 2 without Chadwick Boseman.

Earlier this year, Marvel Studios decided to push back the release of a new phase of MCU due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Although they do not have plans for Black Panther 2 yet, fans asked the company about the film’s future. Moreover, Boseman’s passing may affect its future releases now.

Since they lost the most important pillar of the film, the company spoke openly about the next installment. And one thing is for sure — they will not use a CGI.

Why Marvel Studios refuses to use CGI?

In an interview with Clarin, per The Wrap, Marvel Studios’ executive Victoria Alonso gave an update on Black Panther 2.

Per Alonso, they are not considering using a CGI to bring back Boseman.

“Our king, unfortunately, has died in real life, not just in fiction, and we are taking a little time to see how we return to the story and what we do to honor this chapter of what has happened to us that was so unexpected, so painful, so terrible, really,” she said.

As for the future of the film alone, she noted that Marvel still needs to plan it out carefully. That way, they can pay respect to Boseman while honoring the franchise.

Meanwhile, the comics hinted that the sister of Boseman’s King T’Challa, Shuri, take over his role. She then became the next Black Panther.

Actress Letitia Wright played the role of Shuri very well since joining the 2018 standalone film.

So if she were to take on the role, she could also get the same amount of support from fans.

Most fans also theorize that the next Black Panther film might still opt to use a CGI. This could give them a chance to pass the torch from Boseman to Wright.

Fans approved!

After Alonso confirmed that CGI is not one of their options, fans shared their sentiments about it online.

“The best thing I’ve seen is knowing they won’t be doing a cgi for chad when it comes to the black panther. I truly TRULY think it’s disrespectful as heck,” one fan said.

The same Twitter user continued, “Idk if y’all remember but Prince was actually really against these things and I truly agree with what he said about.”
