Finally, some estranged heroes are home with Marvel Studios regaining Jessica Jones and Punisher characters’ rights.
The studio behind the biggest superhero film franchise, MCU, now has control over Jessica Jones and Punisher. Kevin Feige and his team can do whatever they want with them in the future phases.
The properties were under Netflix previously. But after their two years of series cancellations, they are eventually back to Disney.
Fans expect Krysten Ritter to stay as Jessica Jones
One crucial aspect of this new development will be Kevin Feige’s approach regarding Jessica Jones and Punisher. Since many fans have witnessed Krysten Ritter and Jon Bernthal in their respective roles, they want them to stay.
In simple words, the majority of people don’t want a recasting of Ritter and Bernthal.
These two actors became fan favorites due to their excellent portrayal of the two Marvel characters in their solo shows. Now that they are home, with Marvel Studios, expectations will also increase among Jessica Jones and Punisher’s die-hard followers.
While these two characters’ rights are back to Disney, several other heroes will also return soon. Luke Cage and Iron Fist will again come under the MCU once their series’ cancellations complete two years in coming months.
Speaking of rumors and speculations then many reports have claimed Netflix characters’ part in MCU’s upcoming titles. For example, Spider-Man 3 is said to feature Charlie Cox’s Daredevil. But all such rumors should be taken with a grain of salt as of now.
The final decision, however, will be of Feige himself since he’s the boss. In recent media interactions, he did tease Netflix-based characters and their possible appearance in the MCU.
“That’s one of the fun things about the comics is that characters would appear and disappear and come and go. All of it is an inspiration for the future. There are some great characters and actors from those shows.”
Upcoming MCU content in the future
As the fans wait for the new character in the franchise, they are also ready for fresh content in the coming months. WandaVision has already begun the streak of non-stop MCU entertainment. After this series, the next title to arrive is Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Then there are films like Black Widow, Shang-Chi, and Eternals. However, they might face another delay due to increasing COVID-19 cases across the globe.
On the side of TV shows, the future line-up looks very exciting with the likes of Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, Secret Invasion, Hawkeye, Loki, and She-Hulk. The latter is also rumored to bring back Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones. And because her character is now under Marvel Studios, possibilities are looking quite hopeful.
