Amazon Prime’s award-winning comedy series Marvelous Mrs. Maisel gears up for production with a schedule set for the first table read in December.
Pre-production preparations for the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel are currently underway. The crew is building sets, and the cast coming to work for costume fittings.
Show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino revealed that filming would likely start on Jan. 7, 2021, but she’s rounding up the cast for the first table read.
“In December we’re dragging the actors in and we’re going to table read the scripts,” the showrunner said, per TV Line. “And then, come January 7, it’s, ‘On your mark, get set, go.”
The planned date, however, might still change, according to an Amazon insider amid the safety protocols against COVID-19. Co-producer Daniel Palladino said that season 4 would be slightly different because of the pandemic restrictions.
They will be using more visual effects since they cannot have too many extras on the set.
Slowly and safely getting back
Rachel Brosnahan, the star of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, shared a photo of her costume fitting as Midge Maisel. She was with four people from the costume department, and they were all wearing masks.
The actress said it feels good that they are “slowly and safely” back to work. In an interview with StyleCaster, the star said that they have a pretty big number of cast and crew so safety is of real importance and they have to take care of each other.
Emmy losses and hopes for Midge
Brosnahan and the series failed to win any major awards at the Emmys this year. However, the actress still attended the show with her husband and they both wore pajamas to the affair since it happened virtually.
Meanwhile, the plot details for Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 4 are under wraps but Brosnahan said she hopes her character will keep growing. Midge Maisel lived a privileged life with rose-colored glasses before she decided to get a job.
The upcoming season will keep bringing challenges that will both humble and astound the former spoiled woman.
Marvelous Mrs. Maisel debuted on Amazon in 2017 and centered on a 1950s socialite housewife whose world crumbled after she discovered her husband’s affair. Midge embarked on a self-discovery after realizing she could potentially succeed in stand-up comedy. With the help of her manager and friend, Susie (Alex Borstein), Midge charts a new life and career as an entertainer.
The show’s first three seasons continue to stream on Amazon Prime.
