Fans of the upcoming Black Widow movie won’t like it, but it’s expected to get delayed again! And it’s due to the growing pandemic cases.
According to Comicbook, new reports from Variety say that Black Widow will be delayed once again. And that might happen due to the growing cases of Coronavirus pandemic, even in 2021. Hopes were high for the arrival of the vaccine, but even after that, new variant infections are spreading rapidly.
And now it seems like the predictions for multiple delays, made in 2020, will continue forward in this year as well. That’s sad for the moviegoers as well as theater owners across the globe.
Black Widow: What’s the current situation?
Many locations in the United States recently witnessed a surge in COVID-19 cases. And that will surely hamper the possibility of people going to theaters in the coming months. Because of that, Marvel Studios will be bound to hold the theatrical launch of Black Widow.
Although many people have urged for a Disney Plus premiere, Kevin Feige won’t let that happen unless he has no other choice left. Yes, the movie will eventually arrive on the streaming platform itself, but the makers try their best to present it first in cinema halls.
But Coronavirus has put a brake on most things, including entertainment, especially for big-budget productions. If the situation prevails even in May and people don’t feel normal, Marvel will consider a streaming release for Black Widow. It has witnessed a year-long delay already. As per the revised schedule, it’s lined-up for a May arrival.
COVID-19 and its impact on the MCU schedule
The pandemic’s inevitable and adverse effect has changed everything and all the plans of Kevin Feige and his team. The announcements made in 2019’s Comic-Con have seen massive delays after last year went in dealing with COVID-19. Nothing else was there to do as far as the entertainment industry is concerned.
Marvel Cinematic Universe saw a total turnaround of events as makers changed all slots for new projects. Previously, Black Widow was going to start Phase four of MCU. But after the pandemic hit the globe, it got continuously delayed constantly, along with other films in the franchise.
Production on upcoming and anticipated projects like Shang-Chi and Falcon and the Winter Soldier also witnessed a halt. And now, previously announced TV shows would start filming this year and after that. Due to this, now the Phase five installments will also arrive late, like Captain Marvel 2, Black Panther 2, Blade, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
