As per Comic Book Resource, Thor 4 might see Jane Foster ultimately becoming the lead character in its storyline. Chris Hemsworth is the God of Thunder since the start of his story in the MCU. But his next installment might change things forever because it seems likely that Natalie Portman will play a crucial role in the film.
As everyone knows by now, Natalie Portman is returning as Jane Foster after a long gap of more than seven years. This means the plans for her can’t be restricted to just Thor: Love and Thunder. She might be having an extended journey in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thus, a possible theory could be that audience may witness a whole new Jane in Thor 4. And she might become the Goddess of Thunder for a more extended period, and not just in the next entry.
Since the Taika Waititi directorial takes inspiration from the comic book plot of Lady Thor, Jane will wield the Mjolnir as well. That’s already confirmed after Natalie Portman lifted the hammer, for the first time, during 2019’s San Diego Comic-Con event. Thor 4 is not yet confirmed to follow all the possibilities of Marvel comics. So it can’t be said whether director Waititi will include other instances or not. For example, Thor becoming unworthy following the events of Original Sin, the source material.
But another confusion that remains still is about the existence of Mjolnir, the hammer itself. It already stands destroyed in the present timeline of the MCU, after Thor’s events: Ragnarok. And even when Thor had it in in Avengers: Endgame, temporarily, Captain America sent it back with time travel. So it will be interesting to see how Natalie’s Jane Foster, a.k.a., Lady Thor, will have it.
The next installment will also bring back the Guardians of the Galaxy, Lady Sif, and Valkyrie. At the same time, Christian Bale is coming as a new addition to the legacy. He will play Gorr the God Butcher.
Meanwhile, die-hard fans are waiting for more content from the most famous cinematic franchise in the world. Future phases are filled with exciting and adventurous titles. The most anticipated ones are Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, Armor Wars, and She-Hulk. Then there are movies like Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2, Blade, and Fantastic Four.
Coming back to Thor 4, it’s currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on May sixth next year.
