It might be an interesting take, but Eternals movie may result in the return of the most iconic MCU supervillain yet, who is Thanos!
According to Comic Book Resource, Thanos might return with the help of the upcoming MCU movie Eternals. Being a Deviant as well, his race may tie into the new cosmic tale in the franchise.
The Mad Titan is both an Eternal and a Deviant.
The Theory: Thanos and his Eternals connection
The upcoming Eternals movie might be an excellent platform to explore Thanos more deeply. And also to dive deep into his origins since his backstory is still limited in the MCU. Avengers: Infinity War did provide glimpses of him, but that wasn’t in an elaborated manner. His relation to Titan’s planet is more complicated. And it may appear in the future if the upcoming cosmic film tries to show that.
Thanos was first seen in the comics in 1973’s The Invincible Man Iron Man #55. Jim Starlin created him and was the first to introduce him in the comic book storyline. On the other hand, Jack Kirby introduced the Eternals and also their Celestial masters in 1976. But both of these worlds came together in Roger Stern and artist Al Milgrom’s in Avengers #246.
Speaking of the Eternals, it’s directed by Chloé Zhao. The vast cast has Angelina Jolie as Thena and Salma Hayek as Ajak. Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Barry Keoghan as Drug, and Kit Harington as Dane Whitman/Black Knight is also in the film.
Upcoming MCU twists in the future
Meanwhile, the most famous cinematic universe in the world is currently dealing with a lot of things. Many huge shows and films are about to arrive in the future. Though WandaVision has begun the streak of fresh content now, the pandemic is standing midway. Falcon and the Winter Soldier will come next, but after that, it seems like a challenging journey ahead. Coronavirus pandemic is resulting in a long delay of many anticipated projects. When it comes to new TV shows, Ms. Marvel, Loki, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, Armor Wars, and She-Hulk are next on the list. Due to the virus, they are getting pushed ahead now, as the production is getting affected.
Then Eternals, Black Widow, and Shang-Chi go through another delay phase on the side of movies. Ultimately, this will affect the release dates for future titles like Spider-Man 3, Thor: Love and Thunder, Captain Marvel 2, Black Panther 2, and Blade. The last three movies are scheduled for phase five.
