Meghan Markle decided to cut ties with her friends before she married Prince Harry.
Meghan Markle has a lot of friends because she is warm and friendly. However, according to some of those within her circles, she cut ties with them before her royal wedding.
Meghan Markle ditched old friends before the royal wedding
Meghan Markle moved to London for her engagement announcement with Prince Harry in 2017. She stayed in the U.K. for her royal wedding and until earlier this year.
The duchess doesn’t have to cut her contacts with her friends because there are tons of ways to connect online. But, she did and her old pals understood.
It reportedly happened after the engagement while she became close to Prince Harry’s circle.
“A lot of Meghan’s friends haven’t heard from her,” the source told Grazia magazine. “In some cases, she sent a mutual friend to explain she would no longer be in touch.”
The source added that Markle’s friends already expected that her life would change after her engagement with Prince Harry.
“People understood as soon as it became clear how serious her relationship with Harry had become,” the insider added. “Meghan is sociable but her life has changed and certain friendships can’t go on.”
Meghan’s ex-BFF said she’s calculated
Meghan Markle was very close to Ninaki Priddy because they grew up together. The two have known each other since they were 2 years old and grew up like sisters.
They had a lot of videos and photos together from the time they were kids to their teenage years. However, their friendship ended when Markle decided to dump her first husband, Trevor Engelson.
Markle’s decision to end her marriage came as a surprise to many, even to Priddy. According to Markle’s former best friend, she talked with Engelson and their conversation ended her friendship with the former Suits star.
“What came to light after Trevor and I spoke ended my friendship with Meghan. I think everybody who knew them both was in shock,” Priddy told The Sun.
“All I can say now is that I think Meghan was calculated, very calculated, in the way she handled people and relationships. She is very strategic in the way she cultivates circles of friends.”
Duchess of Sussex depends on Hollywood friends
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have decided to leave their royal roles and moved to the U.S. They also announced that they wanted to be financially independent.
However, royal correspondent Daniela Elser of News.com.au questioned their freedom. According to her, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not really independent. Instead, they “have gone from relying on the royal family to relying on their Hollywood pals.”
