Meghan Markle was previously married before she met and wed Prince Harry. Markle’s friend said her divorce from Trevor Engelson “empowered” her.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been married for two years already. But not everyone approved of their royal romance because she is a divorcee. But her failed marriage had a positive impact on Markle.
Meghan Markle empowered by divorce
Meghan Markle fell in love hard with producer Trevor Engelson years before she met Prince Harry. They got married but divorced in less than two years.
While others found themselves broken after getting a divorce, the incident reportedly empowered Markle, according to Abby Wathen.
“We both went through a divorce, so we bonded over that too,” Wathen said on ITV documentary Prince Harry and Meghan: Truly, Madly, Deeply, as quoted by Express.
“I was destroyed and she was empowered. She took her power back. It wasn’t the right relationship for her, so she moved on.”

Meghan’s former BFF spoke about the divorce
Meghan Markle grew up with Ninaki Priddy. In fact, the two were childhood best friends. They were very close, but their friendship ended the moment Priddy learned how they separated.
Trevor Engelson was also furious with the way Markle ended their marriage. In fact, even five years after they divorced, he still couldn’t contain his anger when he hears Markle’s name.
Priddy decided to end her friendship with Markle when she heard Engelson’s side of the story.
“What came to light after Trevor and I spoke ended my friendship with Meghan. I think everybody who knew them both was in shock,” Priddy told The Sun.
“All I can say now is that I think Meghan was calculated, very calculated, in the way she handled people and relationships. She is very strategic in the way she cultivates circles of friends.”
How Meghan ended their marriage
Andrew Morton learned from the exes’ wealthy entrepreneur friend that their marriage ended abruptly. Markle reportedly sent her wedding and engagement rings to Engelson via registered post. Another source confirmed to Morton that Markle ended their marriage “totally out of the blue.”
Meanwhile, dating and relationship coach Sami Wunder also believed that Markle’s bad relationship made her a wiser woman. Markle marrying for the second time only showed that she believes in love and is not giving up on it.
She added that recovering from a bad marriage can make one better, richer, wiser, and more mature, and that’s the case for Markle.
