Meghan Markle allegedly does everything to upstage her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, according to one tabloid.
Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton are often pitted against each other, probably because both are married to a royal prince. And oftentimes, tabloids paint the Duchess of Sussex as the villain. So, one should take the reports about Markle trying to upstage the Duchess of Cambridge with a grain of salt.
Meghan Markle allegedly tries to overshadow Kate
Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton are close in age and have distinct fashion. They also gained loyal supporters after joining the Firm. Unfortunately, there has been a non-stop comparison between the two, and it always ends with Markle being the antihero.
“Rachel simply can’t stand when HRH Duchess of Cambridge is in the news,” an alleged insider told Bella UK using her first name.
“Meghan has done everything in her power to upstage, insult and defame Catherine and the royal family.”
The dubious source then went on saying that when Middleton gave an update about her photography project Hold Still, she barely had time to bask in her big news. Shortly after her update about the project, Prince Harry and Markle’s “megadeal” with Spotify made headlines on the same day.
There are rumors that Spotify is offering the Sussexes a seven-figure deal to produce an exclusive podcast for them. The outlet noted that the music streaming giant has already signed Michelle Obama and Kim Kardashian for the same deal.
In addition, the insider mentioned how Markle overshadowed Middleton when she presented Novak Djokovic his trophy at the 2019 Wimbledon Championship. Markle made headlines on the same day for attending The Lion King premiere. At the event, the duchess and Beyonce had sweet photos together. The Brown Skin Girl singer is an open supporter of Markle.
Rumor debunked
However, one should take the report with a grain of salt. Several outlets often take the same route when comparing the two duchesses painting Meghan Markle as the bad one.
First, the Spotify deal isn’t official. The Sussexes only made a multi-million deal with Netflix. Second, Markle and Middleton are not feuding.
Royal expert and correspondent Katie Nicholl spoke with Entertainment Tonight about Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s relationship. Several sources told her that the two didn’t have a falling out over anything specific they just didn’t click. Markle and Middleton didn’t have things in common.
Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand’s book Finding Freedom seemed to reinforce the idea. It alleged that Middleton thinks she and Markle have nothing in common except for the fact that they both live in the palace.
The controversial book painted the Sussexes as the victim of the press. It also denied the reported kind gestures that the Cambridges did for Prince Harry and Markle. The royal couple, who are now based in the U.S., denied any involvement in the book.
Thus, one should take the rumors about Middleton and Markle feuding lightly because there is no evidence supporting the claim. Also, several sources already said they are not close, but they are certainly not foes either.
