Meghan Markle was allegedly forced to abandon her beloved dog, Bogart, for her husband, Prince Harry.
Meghan Markle has been known as a dog lover. Before moving to the U.K., she has two fur babies, Bogart and Guy. However, she is not taking back one of them because the mutt allegedly doesn’t like her husband, Prince Harry.
Meghan Markle not taking back Bogart
When Meghan Markle moved to the U.K., she left Bogart in Canada with her close friends. However, she allegedly has no plans to reunite with her beloved dog because of his relationship with her husband, Prince Harry.
“But a close associate revealed Meghan has decided that, for the sake of family harmony, Labrador-German shepherd cross Bogart is in the doghouse,” Dan Wootton, executive editor, of The Sun wrote.
According to Wootton, he got the news from his associate. The insider added that Markle loved Bogart but chose her husband over her pet.
“Meghan adored that dog but the decision not to take him back was based on Bogart’s relationship with Harry,” Wootton’s associate said.
“Bogart never took to Harry when they spent time together in Canada. He didn’t like Harry. Meghan was very vocal about the fact it wouldn’t be fair to take him back full-time, given Bogart’s feelings for her husband.”
The source added that the duchess’ staff in the U.K. were aware of her decision. They accepted Markle’s choice because she knows her dogs.
Markle and Bogart’s history
Meghan Markle met Bogart at a rescue shelter. She admitted that Bogart was her first dog, and she took him home because Ellen DeGeneres told her to do so.
“Well Bogart is possibly a Lab/Shepherd mix. I’m not entirely sure. When I got him… it’s a funny story. He’s my first dog ever. I didn’t grow up with dogs,” Markle told Reader’s Digest.
Markle recalled DeGeneres asking her if the dog was hers. She told the host “No” but was considering. DeGeneres encouraged her to “rescue the dog.”
The former Suits star was just sitting holding the dog. When the daytime talk show host asked if Markle has a name for the dog, she said, “I’d name him Bogart.”
“You’re taking the dog home,” DeGeneres told Markle before getting into her car. When the host was already in her vehicle and was about to leave, she shouted at Markle, “Take the dog!”
“And so I brought him home. Because Ellen told me to,” Markle said how she decided to take Bogart home.
