Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were reportedly given a choice that could have improved their relationship with the royal family.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been rumored to be at odds with the royals. However, a royal correspondent claimed that the Sussexes were given the chance to either improve or further damage their relationship with the royal family.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry allegedly given a choice
Daniela Elser of News.com.au claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have an option for baby Lili’s christening which could potentially mend their relationship with the royal family. The couple could set her christening in the U.K. in September when they were rumored to return to London. If they do it, then it would be construed as an olive branch after years of feuding.
But if Prince Harry and Markle will still hold the ceremony in California when the Queen could not travel internationally to attend it, then it will be seen as a rejection of the royal family she added. The couple still has a third option, Elser added.
“There is also a third option here: They decide to skip a baptism entirely. But again, this too would be read as deeply disrespectful to Her Majesty given she is, after all, the head of the Church of England,” she added.
Sussexes relationship with the royal family
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship with the royal family was questioned after they decided to step down from their royal duties. Following the Megxit, they moved to the United States.
They also did a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March. During the tell-all, they made several statements about the royal family.
Prince Harry and Markle alleged that a member of the royal family raised concern over their son’s complexion. The member of the firm reportedly asked how dark their unborn baby’s skin color would be. Their statement sparked racism allegations against the royal family.
Prince William denied the allegations. The Duke of Cambridge said the royal family is very much not racist.
Prince Harry might be torn between Meghan and the royal family
Prince Harry has already visited the U.K. twice this year. He flew to his home country for Prince Philip’s funeral. He returned last month for the unveiling of Princess Diana’s statue. On both occasions, he was seen reaching out to his brother, Prince William. Several experts believed he wanted to reconcile with his big brother.
Royal author Duncan Larcombe warned Prince Harry that his attempts to mend ties with his family might affect his marriage with Meghan Markle. Larcombe noted how Prince Harry sacrificed his relationship with his family for his wife. He believed that the Sussexes need to compromise to make things work because he noticed that at present things have been done for Markle and with her needs first.
