Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have, allegedly, been dumped by Netflix months after they signed a multi-year deal with the streaming giant.
According to New Idea, Meghan Markle turned her deal with Netflix into a vanity project. And the bosses at Netflix are not thrilled.
“Word around town is that, despite the big game they talked at pitch meetings, Netflix isn’t happy with what the Sussexes are coming up with. Which might be why there hasn’t been a peep about what they’re working on from Netflix’s publicity team,” the source said.
Meghan Markle turned the Netflix deal into a vanity project
Last year, the gossip website Crazy Days and Nights speculated on the possibility that Netflix isn’t happy with the couple, especially the Duchess of Sussex.
“It was not supposed to become a vanity project but it’s becoming one already. This seems to be about Meghan, which ties in with the Netflix rumors. I haven’t seen the terms of the agreement, but Netflix isn’t going to keep people around who aren’t impressing them. If Meghan and Harry had this deal ripped out from under them, their finances could end up in serious trouble,” the source said.
However, the tabloid’s claims are just based on hearsays.
Netflix has no plans to cut ties with the Sussexes
If Netflix has plans to cut ties with Prince Harry and Markle, they would’ve made the announcement themselves.
The fact that there’s no report about the two parties scrapping their contract proves that the tabloid is just creating stories about the Sussexes.
It is also important to note that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have yet to release their first project with Netflix.
Last year, one of the heads at the company said that the couple’s first project will be released sometime this year. And since 2021 just started, Prince Harry and Markle still have plenty of time to live up to their promise.
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle banned from talking about royal family on Netflix
Meanwhile, Netflix, reportedly, banned Prince Harry and Markle from talking about the royal family as part of their multi-year deal with the company.
A source told News.co.au that negotiating with the couple has been a breeze.
“The Sussexes were more concerned and consumed about their own image and ideas rather than what else was being screened on Netflix,” the source said.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry also signed a multi-year deal with Spotify.
