Meghan Markle and Prince Harry denied all involvement in the making of “Finding Freedom.”
Following the release of Finding Freedom, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s camp clarified that they did not have any contribution to the book. The Sussex couple’s PR team denied all speculations, adding that there were no interviews that happened between them and the authors.
The authors, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, later on, echoed the statements. They said that they obtained their information from numerous royal sources, including some of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s close friends.
Despite the continued denial, royal experts and fans believe otherwise. One expert even claimed that their “fingerprints” are all over the book, according to Cheat Sheet.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s indirect contribution
Speaking to Today, royal expert Victoria Arbiter shared that the details in Finding Freedom suggest that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry contributed in the making of the book. She added that these details are all too personal and “intimate,” noting that the information could have only come from the Sussex couple or their close friends.
She, then, argued that the couple’s friends would only share such essential information had they received a “go-ahead” from them. As a conclusion, Arbiter noted that they most likely contributed, “just not directly.”

Duke and Duchess did not take legal actions
Writing to The Spectator, writer Joanna Williams had a different take about the couple’s real contribution to the book. She said that Finding Freedom “delves deeply” into the lives of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
Despite this, she said that the Duke and Duchess had not taken any legal action yet, which makes it all questionable. She emphasized that they have always done this, especially when publications release personal details about them. This could be a “sign” that they did “endorse” the book, Williams explained.
Camilla Tominey of the Telegraph, also, had the same thoughts. She wrote a piece for the publication stating that it is “strange” that the Sussex couple has not shared a “word of complaint” against the book.
Did the authors lie?
Following all the speculations, netizens said that the couple, as well as the authors of Finding Freedom, seemingly “lied” about their contribution. This, reportedly, comes after the royal fan-made account, “UK Royal Tea,” posted a screenshot of the authors’ note. It says that Scobie and Durand have spoken to the Duke and Duchess, “when appropriate.”
In the end, though, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have maintained their stand about the matter. They have not released any comment about their actual “contribution,” except for their PR team’s initial statement.
