Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have always been very protective when it comes to their son. A new book claims they lied about Archie’s birth to protect him from paparazzi.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry do not expose their son to the public, although they shared some photos of him on Instagram before. But they allegedly lied during his birth to keep the paparazzi away.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry allegedly lied
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry handled the birth of their child different from Kate Middleton and Prince William. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge usually have a photo op at St. Mary’s Hospital for their newborn’s public debut.
It was something the Duke and Duchess of Sussex skipped. Also, they lied about the exact time when Archie was born, according to Robert Lacey, in his new book, Battle of Brothers.
Archie was born at 5:26 in the morning on May 6, 2019. But the palace waited until 2 p.m. to announced that Markle had just gone into labor. But in reality, Prince Harry, Markle, and newborn son were already home at the time.
Prince Harry and Markle decided to skip the traditional photo-op due to their strong demand for privacy.
“Harry and Meghan were resolute that their newborn baby’s first sight of the world should not be the same insane and lethal camera-flashing that had attended — had actually brought about — the death of Diana,” Lacey wrote in the book per Marie Claire.
Prince William wasn’t happy about the couple’s strategy
In the same book, Lacey claimed that they didn’t like the couple’s strategy to keep Archie’s birth a secret. In fact, the future king “did not think too highly of Harry and Meghan’s ‘prima donna’ maneuvers to conceal the birth of their son.”
It reportedly bothered the second in line to the throne too much that he waited for eight days before he and his wife, Kate Middleton, visited Archie. However, the other royals, including Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, and Camilla Parker Bowles, immediately visited the new addition to the family.
Sussexes desperate to wrestle attention?
Just recently, Piers Morgan slammed the couple and accused them of hurling themselves into the news cycle as if they were “desperate to wrestle” attention. Morgan made the said opinion because Prince Harry and Markle moved to the U.S. at the heights of the pandemic and announced the new charity while the world was on lockdown.
He found their move, “grotesquely tone-deaf inappropriateness.” He also slammed Prince Harry for his comment, implying that the media was exaggerating the reports about the pandemic by saying that the COVID-19 in Britain wasn’t as bad as what the public was being told.
