Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were being rude and immature in their response to the Queen’s Megxit decision.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to step back from their royal duties last year. One year later, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to stand by their decision and never work for the royal family again. But they released a bold statement when Queen Elizabeth Ii decided to strip them of their military appointments and royal patronages. One royal expert deemed their reaction inappropriate.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry allegedly rude
Dickie Arbiter, Queen Elizabeth II’s press spokesman for 12 years from 1998 to 2000, said the Sussexes’ reaction to the Queen “was petulant” before adding, “it was rude, it was immature.”
Royal author Robert Jobson shared the same sentiment as Arbiter.
“The rudeness of the statement they issued after they left! Frankly, they have been given a lot of slack, but they were damn right rude to the Queen and the Royal Family,” he said as quoted by The Sun.
Sussexes were angry
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams believed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not happy with the Queen, saying they won’t have time for the public service. They fired back at Her Majesty, saying that they would continue with public service.
For Fitzwilliams, the Sussexes were unhappy. He wanted to see a more balanced approach from Prince Harry and Markle. He also pointed at the language used and said they appear to lecture the Queen. Fitzwilliams, who regularly contributes about the royal matters to CNN and Sky News, said their statement didn’t help as it only showed that they were angry, he told Us Weekly.
Prince William’s reaction
Prince William was shocked and sad about Prince Harry’s reaction to Queen Elizabeth II’s Megxit decision. The second in line to the throne found it insulting and disrespectful toward their grandmother, who is the head of the monarchy, an insider told The Times.
Several sources also sided with Prince William because they agreed that it was disrespectful for Prince Harry to answer back the Queen. In fact, another insider close to the royal family found the Sussexes’ reaction “petulant and insulting to the Queen.”
When Prince William got over his anger toward his younger sibling, the Duke of Cambridge felt sad at the realization that he would no longer be working alongside Prince Harry. Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s two sons were inseparable growing up. However, many noticed that he slowly distanced himself from Prince William and Kate Middleton after dating and marrying Meghan Markle.
