Prince Harry and Meghan Markle teamed up with World Central Kitchen and José Andrés.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may have exited the British Monarchy but, their works and efforts for the public did not seemingly stop. Following Megxit, the couple continued with their advocacies to help several citizens, particularly those who are in the United States.
Despite all the positive endeavours, though, several individuals remain suspicious and critical of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. In their latest project, many netizens slammed and accused them of “seeking attention,” according to the Daily Express. All the discussions emerged after announcing their recent movements under their new non-profit organization, Archewell.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry “triggered” a backlash on social media
The publication said that several individuals expressed their opinions and thoughts about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new project. Many netizens questioned the couple about their real intentions and agendas, adding that their “goodwill gestures” did not convince the public.
Some Twitter users asked whether the couple would, indeed, help those who are in need or “just talk about it.” They appear to believe that the former working royals are only in it for publicity.
Another netizen, then, said that the Duke and Duchess are “riding on the chef’s program” to help their own reputations. This led a few individuals to share that the couple just refused to “go away,” noting that they are, truly, “seeking attention.”
The Sussexes’ new project under Archewell
On Sunday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced their partnership with chef José Andrés and World Central Kitchen. People explained that the organization focuses on “feeding communities,” which are “negatively impacted by natural disasters.”
Archewell will center its efforts on helping the organization build a series of Community Relief Centers. Reports noted that these centers will serve as “service kitchens” amid a moment of crisis and even after it. These venues will also serve as “food distribution hubs” and schools. They can also be avenues for “safe community gathering spots.”
Upon the announcement of the project, the former working royals released an official statement regarding the matter. They shared that the “health of our communities depends” on the public’s “ability to connect to our shared humanity.”
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry also emphasized that World Central Kitchen and Chef Andrés remind them that “there are so many amazing people willing” to support others. In the end, they said that the non-profit organization inspires “through compassion in action.”
