Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lost their privileges to use the “HRH” style after Megxit.
It remains shocking for the public that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry left the royal institution for the United States. When they announced their exit earlier this year, it has since sparked controversies and allegations.
While they received Queen Elizabeth’s blessing, they lost some of the most significant titles. For the Duke of Sussex, he lost his military honors, and they both lost their privilege to utilize the HRH style. They could no longer use the word “royal,” as well since they are no longer working royals.
Despite this, they still use their Duke and Duchess titles, and this wrongly rubs many individuals off. This is why many are urging them to lose all of their royal peerages. But, a royal expert suggested an ideal proposal for the couple to end all the controversies, according to the Daily Express.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry should “compromise”
Speaking to the publication, Marlene Koenig suggested that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should make changes in their names and titles. Instead of using the Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles, they should think of following Prince Edward’s footsteps.
The Earl of Wessex did not use his royal titles and peerages when he ran his production company, Arden. Considering that the venture had no ties and links to the British Royal Family and British Monarchy, he used “Edward Windsor” in his formal capacity to spearhead the business.
Koenig said that this would be the “perfect solution” for the Sussex couple. Instead of their titles, they should think of using “Meghan and Harry, Sussex.”
What the public thinks
Amid all the debacle, several polls emerged these past few months, inquiring the public’s opinion. A separate report from the Daily Express revealed that 48 percent of the British respondents urge Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to lose all of their titles, including their HRH and Dukedom honors.
The poll came from YouGov earlier in September, following the public’s outrage when the Sussex couple repeatedly broke their silence about the Presidential elections. Out of the 3,250 respondents, only 27 percent believe that the Queen should not strip them off of their tiles. Meanwhile, a handful of 25 percent responded that they do not know.
The talks about retaining Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal links continue to become more apparent in recent weeks. Reports noted that this is likely because of the upcoming review of their Megxit deal in March 2021.
