Royals fans now wonder what “MWX” stands for after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry changed the name of the charity to this.
Following Megxit, a lot has happened in the lives of the British Royal Family, particularly Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. After announcing their desire to step down, they stayed in Canada, and have since relocated to the United States.
Upon the finalization of their exit’s deals, the Sussex couple now ceases to represent the Queen and the British Monarchy. Alongside this, they can no longer use the word “royal,” nor refer themselves as one. Accordingly, this is the reason why the officially shut down their charity, Sussex Royal.
About the Sussex Royal Foundation
Prince Harry and Prince William launched The Royal Foundation in 2009. They set up the charity to take forward their “charitable ambitions.” Two years later, Kate Middleton joined the royal siblings in their charity when she officially became the Duchess of Cambridge.
Meghan Markle joined the trio when she became the Duchess of Sussex. For a while, reports branded them as the “Royal Fab Four.” However, the Sussex couple decided to start their charity foundation a year after their wedding, according to Cheat Sheet. This, then, became the start of the Sussex Royal Foundation.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shut down Sussex Royal
Considering that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are no longer working royals, not to mention that the foundation carries the word “royal” in it, they had to dissolve the Sussex Royal Foundation after their exit.
Earlier in July, records confirmed that the foundation had officially started the process of its “solvent liquidation,” according to the Daily Express. The Companies House has managed all of the documents, including the declaration of solvency and the appointment of a voluntary liquidator.
Last week, the Companies House’s website, reportedly, confirmed the name change of Sussex’s foundation. In the paperwork, it is no longer the Sussex Royal Foundation but, “MWX Foundation.”
The publication said that they drew the notice to change the name of the entity on July 1. The actual change became effective on August 5.
Is it the Meghan Windsor Foundation?
Since the new name’s emergence on the headlines, many royal fans and watchers have wondered what “MWX” means. Some netizens, reportedly, speculated that it might be “Meghan Windsor Foundation.” Others, however, argued that it is unlikely. Instead, they deem it as “Mountbatten Windsor X,” adding that the X could mean “ex-royals.”
Amid all the speculations, though, the Companies House said that they are not allowed to disclose what name means or what it stands for. Likewise, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have seemingly remained tight-lipped about the matter.
