Meghan Markle and Prince Harry allegedly stepped down from their royal duties because they didn’t want the Queen and Prince Charles managing their finances, according to a royal expert.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry used to share the same staff with Prince William and Kate Middleton. However, when the royal siblings decided to split their households, the Sussexes were managed by Buckingham Palace, a move that allegedly didn’t sit well with them.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s last straw revealed
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex allegedly wanted to be equal with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. When they split their households, the Sussexes are no longer under the Cambridges. However, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles stepped in to “manage their affairs” and they weren’t happy about it.
Prince Harry and Markle didn’t have their own press officers. Instead, they were told to be under Buckingham Palace. That was reportedly their last straw before they decided to leave the royal family for good.
“And in a way, that’s the final straw because once again the Sussexes are saying ‘why can’t we have what the Cambridges are having? We should be on equal footing’,” Camilla Tominey said in the documentary Harry & William: What Went Wrong? per The Sun.
Sussex are already financially independent
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are already financially independent. They mentioned during their exit announcement that they wanted to be financially independent of the royal family and they achieved it.
However, the Sussex received an intense backlash after Prince Harry claimed that Prince Charles cut him off financially after the Megxit. However, the annual financial report of the Clarence House showed that Prince Charles gave them a substantial amount to help them with the transition.
Prince Harry and Markle have signed a multi-million deal with Netflix and Spotify. They also paid the rent of Frogmore Cottage, their official home in the U.K.
Meghan’s book not in the Queen’s store
Meghan Markle is officially an author after her children’s book The Bench was published. However, the publication is not being stocked on the Queen’s online store.
The online Royal Collection Shop boasts a whole “story time” section of delightful children’s book, The Sun noted. Among the books in the collection are Padding at the Palace and Peppa Pg Meets The Queen.
Markle’s book has performed well on Amazon and even become New York Times bestseller just a week after it was released. However, it didn’t make it to the Queen’s store.
The duchess explained earlier that the book was inspired by a poem she wrote for Prince Harry. The book is about the relationship of a father and child in the eye of the mother.
