Meizu’s biggest duo flagship series in years, the Meizu 17, has finally been launched, weeks after the series catapulted the grapevine with crazed leaks and speculations.
Dubbed as the Meizu 17 series, the newest lineup from the budding smartphone manufacturer is currently only announced for the Chinese market.
Minimalistic design
The Meizu 17 series stays true to previous leaks with its minimalistic design. Both the Meizu 17 and 17 Pro feature a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display, with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels and a cutout on the upper-left section, which houses their single front-facing snappers. The phones’ display also sports 90Hz refresh rate, 700 nits of typical brightness. Both screens are also HDR10+-compliant.
The Meizu 17 and 17 Pro also pack a ceramic back and frame.
Flagship internals
Both the Meizu 17 and 17 Pro are also powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 chipset with 8GB/12GB of RAM tiers and 128GB/256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage options.
The duo also works on a 4,500mAh battery with support for 30W fast wired charging. However, only the Pro variant comes with support for 27W fast wireless charging. The new Meizu flagship also supports reverse wireless charging.

Both the phones also offer varying configurations, with the Pro edition sporting more advanced sensors. The Pro variant packs a 0.3 MP TOF 3D, which also doubles as a depth sensor. The vanilla Meizu 17, on the other hand, features a 5MP macro camera instead.
Other sensors of the standard Meizu flagship include a 64MP primary wide camera, a 12MP wide sensor, and an 8MP ultrawide sensor. The Pro version sports a 64MP primary camera as well, right with an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 32MP ultrawide sensor.
Both phones feature a 20MP wide front-facing selfie snapper.
Other crucial perks
The newest flagships are also equipped with an optical, in-display fingerprint reader, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and USB Type-C. Both phones run on Flyme 8.1, based on the latest Android 10.0.
