Meizu 17 with Snapdragon 865 chip now set for May 8 launch

The Meizu 17 is expected to launch with Meizu 17 Pro, which is also slated to bank on the power of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 chipset.

The Meizu 17 is the most teased smartphone in the Android universe now. Its many “reveals” on its launch dates are so legendary that you’d end up scratching your head. Today, we may now have an end to this saga.

A definitive launch date

Meizu reveals that the Meizu 17 is now slated to arrive on May 8. The newest development briefly comes after the company’s announcement previously about the phone’s intended unveiling.

In December 2019, Meizu made headlines when it announced that its next flagship would arrive with Qualcomm’s current flagship offering, the Snapdragon 865 chipset. Since this development, the Meizu 17 has been subjected to a state of limbo in terms of its launch date.

Rumored features and specifications

Previous teasers of the Meizu 17 revealed that the phone would be launching with a white front bezel, with thinning ones to boot. The teasers also showed that the phone would come with a flat-screen. The phone wouldn’t be one of those flagships which would be employing waterfall-inspired displays, though.

The Meizu 17 is also said to sport an AMOLED screen. This could be built around on a 6.5-inch screen with an FHD+ screen. The phone is also slated to be equipped with a fingerprint reader underneath its display. Moreover, the Meizu 17 could also feature a cutout on its front panel, placed on the upper right of the screen.

The Meizu 17 is also revealed to support 5G connectivity. The phone’s bandwidths of NSA (Non-Standalone) or SA (Standalone) are still yet to be revealed.

Apart from the Snapdragon 865 chipset, the Meizu 17 is also expected to come with the latest LPDDR5 RAM plus relatively new UFS 3.0/3.1 flash storage.

Meizu 17 Pro

A Pro variant of the Meizu 17 is also likely to be revealed alongside the vanilla version. The more premium version of the series could sport an upgraded 40W charging technology and an improved set of cameras on its rear.

The rest of the specifications of the Meizu 17 and 17 Pro are scarce at the moment. These details are expected to pop up anytime soon, leading to the series’ imminent launch.
