Hours later, the first lady posted another Easter greeting to all Americans and their loved ones.
“As we come together to reflect on the importance of family and faith, may God bless our great nation!” the FLOTUS wrote.
COVID-19 lockdown in the United States
Melania’s Easter messages came shortly after Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, predicted that the United States could return to normalcy in November. Among all 50 states, New York is at the epicenter of the pandemic.
The FLOTUS’s Easter tweets drew a slew of positive reactions from her supporters. Some of them called the first lady a good role model for Americans, while others expressed how much they love and appreciate Donald Trump’s wife.
Life at the White House post-lockdown
Meanwhile, Melania had to change some of her plans due to the pandemic. She was initially scheduled to host the annual Easter Egg Roll that was set for Monday, April 13. However, she announced the event’s cancelation weeks ago.
While speaking with Express, the FLOTUS’s press secretary Stephanie Grisham unveiled the drastic changes in the lives of the first couple and the White House staff due to COVID-19. She said that the POTUS and the first lady had been social distancing from their employees.
The non-essential staff has also been asked to work from home. The first couple’s florists, calligraphers, cooks, and chefs, have been on self-quarantine in their respective homes.
Donald and Melania’s eight ushers and six butlers have been reduced to just one or two. Their housekeepers and engineers have also been reduced to just a few to protect everyone during the lockdown.
Grisham told the publication, “As with other times in recent history, such as government shutdowns, they’re likely operating with just a core group of essential people. The rest of the staff would be sent home, or on-call, to come in or rotate when needed”.
As of late, there is still no set date when the lockdown in the US will be lifted. But the POTUS previously hinted that the date is not far behind Easter.
