Melania Trump is rumored to be working on a memoir, but Twitter users are already mocking it and joking that it would be a plagiarism of Michelle Obama’s Becoming.
Melania Trump is talks of writing a memoir, Page Six reported. But even before the first lady confirmed it, Twitter users are already mocking it.
Melania Trump in talks for a memoir
Melania Trump will be leaving the White House next year. However, the FLOTUS might be busy because, according to a report, she has been taking meetings about a book on her time as the first lady.
“Melania is in meetings to write her White House memoir. And it would be her money — a chance for her to earn on her own,” an insider told Page Six.
The insider added that her husband, President Donald Trump, is encouraging her to write a memoir. Also, many believed that Melania’s story would be big, especially after Stephanie Winston Wolkoff’s betrayal. Wolkoff was Melania’s former adviser and friend who released a book and secret tapes about her.
Twitter mocked Melania’s potential memoir
Melania Trump has not confirmed her memoir yet. However, it has become a trending topic on Twitter, and many slammed it. Several joked that the FLOTUS would be plagiarizing former first lady Michelle Obama’s book, Becoming.
“It’s going to be called ‘Becoming Best’ and will be a Slovenian translation of Michelle Obama’s book,” Imani Gandied Yams tweeted.
“I giggle, but this really could be the title, based on Melania’s past ‘borrowings’ from Michelle Obama…” another wrote.
“Melania’s writing a memoir? I hope she plans to split the royalties with Michelle Obama since she didn’t even give her credit when using her work the last time. #BeBest,” another added.

Michelle and Melania’s history
Prior to the reports about Melania Trump working on a memoir, the current first lady has been plagued with criticisms about allegedly plagiarizing former FLOTUS Michelle Obama. The issue started when Melania delivered a speech in 2016 with a paragraph that was too similar to Michelle’s previous statement.
Jarrett Hill compared Melania and Michelle’s statements and concluded that “Melania stole a whole graph from Michelle’s speech.”

Since then, the netizens would mock Melania and link whatever she does to Michelle. For instance, in December 2019, when Donald Trump attacked Greta Thunberg for being named as Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year,” Michelle stepped up and defended the teenage activist.
“Don’t let anyone dim your light,” Michelle wrote to encourage Thunberg.
The netizens went after Melania and encouraged her to copy Michelle’s words for Thunberg.
“Psst! Melania! This would have been a good instance to plagiarize Michelle Obama again. Her comment was really good. As usual. Because she’s a smart, lovely person. Not a would-be mannequin with brimstone in her veins,” one social media user wrote.
