Tech giant Microsoft confirms that the Surface Neo is officially delayed. Also, the company is waiting for the ‘right moment’ to release the device in the market.
Aside from the Surface Neo, Microsoft also confirms that the dual-screen Windows PC will be delayed as well. Microsoft’s newest chief product officer Panos Panay confirms these delays in a recent statement.
While this information has been floating around the tech community for some time, Panay’s announcement made it official. Rumors about the Surface Neo’s delay has been a constant topic in many online blogs and forums.
In general, the announcement also confirms that the Windows 10 May 2020 update will start rolling out this month. Microsoft is also moving its Build Conference into an online-only event, probably because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The delay that surprises no one
In his statement, Panay said:
“The world is a very different place that it was last October when we shared our vision for a new category of dual-screen Windows devices. As we continue to put customers’ needs at the forefront, we need to focus on meeting customers where they are now.”
Although he did not explicitly express it, Panay might be referring to the current coronavirus pandemic and its effect to global activities. Nevertheless, he promise that these devices will eventually see the light of day, albeit on a later date.
Microsoft was suppose to ship the Surface Neo this year. The device will sport a dual-screen setup. It is the new feature of Microsoft’s touted Windows10X.

Now that Microsoft has officially confirmed the delay of “dual-screen Windows devices,” the company might be hinting that the Surface Duo phone will still arrive on schedule. Surface Duo is an Android phone that will support a dual-screen setup.
What’s in store for Windows 10
As for its flagship operating system, Panay has hinted that more feature is coming for Windows 10. Windows 10 May 2020 will is set to rollout this month and will contain a number of interesting new features. Chief among which are updates for the Windows Subsystem for Linux and Cortana.
Many users have confronted Microsoft because of the extreme regularity of its updates. Some users claim that regular updates bring about lots of changes bugs. However, others throw their support to Microsoft for these frequent updates.
Regarding the Surface Neo, Microsoft has yet to comment as to when it plans to release the device.
