Microsoft today has no plans to release Windows 10X.
The operating system Windows 10X was supposed to launch alongside the dual-screen laptop series Surface Neo. It was supposed to collaborate with a more lightweight and simplified interface and entities.
This decision of launching is alongside dual-screen laptops was made before the pandemic hit. Afterward, Microsoft decided to prioritize Windows 10X with single-screen laptops only.
According to the sources, Windows 10X is now officially shut down. Microsoft is now planning to roll out the best feature into Windows 10 only.
The reason for Windows 10X shut down.
John Cable, head of Windows servicing and delivery, confirms that the company is leveraging learnings from the past journey.
Furthermore, he added that Windows 10X, which will be officially supposed to roll out to market in 2021, will now cease.

Undoubtedly, some of the features meant to reside with it are now visible in the form of a new app container technology.
There is much other evidence for its features, like improved voice typing, modernized touch keyboard for Windows 10.
Microsoft has reported that it will be appropriately using the technology of Windows 10X in the hardware and software properly, wherever required in the future.
In addition, it is unlikely that we will see Microsoft Surface Neo as it was supposed to be launched with Windows 10X.
The bottom line of the content
The operating system was meant to launch in 2021 as a competitor for Chrome OS. Microsoft had spent several years modernizing Windows to bring a lightweight version to the IT industry.
Consequently, Windows RT was released alongside the basic Surface Tablet in 2012, while Windows 10 arrived in 2017. Both of them failed to simplify Windows more easily.
Undoubtedly, it had some promising features on which someone could rely, but now it will be visible in Windows 10 instead.
While Microsoft launched a minor update of Windows 10 yesterday, the larger version of this Windows version will release in October. The following visual change will come in the form of new system icons.
In addition, improvement in file explorer and end of Windows-95 era icons will add to the update. Additionally, Microsoft is still fixing some key features which will make a better update. With the shut down of this version, it might be the end for dual-screen laptops as well.
