Microsoft expects its supplies of Xbox Series X|S will remain short. In a statement, they note that they expect the shortage to last until April 2021.
The next-gen consoles like the Xbox Series X|S and the PS5 are the hottest gadgets. Together with the next-gen graphics cards, there’s an unbelievable shortage of consoles across the world. Microsoft expects the problem to last until early next year.
Supply shortages will continue until “post-holiday quarter”
In the Jefferies Interactive Entertainment conference last week, Xbox CFO Tim Stuart confirmed there is indeed a supply shortage.
While he acknowledges that they’re still full speed ahead, it won’t be enough for the massive demand.
“I think we’ll continue to see supply shortages as we head into the post-holiday quarter, so Microsoft’s Q3, calendar Q1,” noted the transcription of the conference on Seeking Alpha.
“And then when we get to Q4, all of our supply chain continuing to go full speed heading into kind of the pre-summer months. And that’s where I start to — I expect to see a little bit of the demand — the supply profile, meeting the demand profile.
“You’ll be outside of a holiday window. We’ll have supply cranking over the next, what, 4, 5, 6 months. And that’s when I expect to see really that demand profile start to be met, which will be really, really great.”
Heavy dry spell for gamers due to thriving community
There is a current dry spell of supply for the current console generation. Both Xbox and Sony are unable to meet the current demand.
As COVID-19 still ravages on, and people continue to work from home, gamers will likely keep the high demand.
The holidays are on their way, with Black Friday and Cyber Monday just a few weeks away. With Thanksgiving on the way, many e-commerce platforms have supply shortages too.
Last week, Amazon sent a blast of email warnings to its customers. The emails noted how their pre-ordered Xbox Series X|S may not come by Christmas. Liz Hamren, Xbox’s experiences, and platforms head acknowledged the shortage too.
“We know that not everyone was able to get an Xbox Series X|S immediately and are working tirelessly with our partners around the world to bring as many new consoles to as many of you as possible over time and encourage you to check in with your local retailers directly for more details on availability in your market,” Hamren said.
The Xbox Series X|S is out of stock in many places across the board. Gamers are looking for units across the internet, but many are out of luck.
