The benchmark score is from Geekbench, a standard benchmarking tool for mobile devices. From what it appears, the upcoming Microsoft Surface Duo passed it with flying colors.
The new Surface Duo fared extremely well on both single-core and multi-core tests. The foldable phone scored 762 points on its single-core test. For the multi-core test, it managed to score 2867 points.
These are extremely interesting results considering the specs of the upcoming device. At the heart of the new Surface device is a Snapdragon 855 chipset. It can outscore all devices that use the same chipset on the same benchmark tool.
The device even managed to outscore the Samsung Galaxy Fold by nearly 200 points on the multi-core test. It is important to note that both devices have the same Snapdragon 855 chipset. This simply shows how Microsoft was able to optimize the device to get more power from the same chipset.
The Geekbench table did not point directly to the new Surface Duo. On its result, it simply shows the result for a relatively unknown “oema0 oema0 b1” device. However, eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that the device does show “surface.duo” on its motherboard.
The Snapdragon 855 features an octa-core CPU clocked at 1.78GHz. Based on early rumors, the device will utilize 6GB of memory. These are not exactly premium hardware, but Microsoft was able to optimize it to its full potential.
The most interesting part of this is how the new Surface device manages to best top-tier devices. For one, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip uses the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. But the new Microsoft Surface manages to beat it by 182 points on the multi-core test.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G, which uses the company’s own Exynos chipset, all fell to the new Surface. The Exynos chip only manages to score 2659 points on the multi-core test. That is a huge deficit compared to the 2867 points of the new Surface Duo.
Fans of Microsoft can now rest easy knowing that the upcoming Surface device is indeed powerful. The tech giant did well on its homework of optimizing the Snapdragon 855 chipset.
The Microsoft Surface Duo is expected to hit the market next month. This means that the tech giant still has a couple of weeks to optimize and tweak the device even further.
