Miley Cyrus opened up about her infamous split from her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth, in a talk on Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
As the most-watched couple in Hollywood, Miley Cyrus revealed going through a divorce in the public eye, really “sucked.”
Cyrus revealed the hardship of getting a divorce in public
According to People, Cyrus acknowledged she had a “very public divorce.” It seemed to be the most challenging part instead of realizing that she had lost the love of her life then.
“What really sucked about it wasn’t the fact that me and someone that I loved realized that we don’t love each other the way that we used to anymore,” she explained. “That’s okay; I can accept that. I can’t accept the villainizing and just all those stories.”
She then cleared that her split from Hemsworth, followed by a relationship with Kaitlynn Carter, never happened overnight.
“It’s just amazing to me that the public kind of thinks that there is no gap in time that they didn’t see that could possibly be what led to this,” she added. “Like, it’s not, ‘One day you were happy on the carpet, and the next you’re making out with your friend in Italy.”
The 27-year-old star stressed there were a lot of things that happened in between that people did not see.

Miley Cyrus, Hemsworth split
Cyrus and Hemsworth tied the knot in December 2018. Eight months later, the 30-year-old actor filed for divorce due to “irreconcilable differences.”
At the time, the songstress’ rep released a statement, revealing the former couple would change as “partners.”
“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” the statement read. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.”
Despite the split, the two remained dedicated parents to the animals they shared, while taking their time apart. “Please respect their process and privacy,” the rep ended.
The effect of love and the aftermath of the divorce
Meanwhile, at the end of their discussion, Cyrus revealed love could make someone feel “high,” Elle noted. The aftermath of her divorce from Hemsworth made her feel like she was “losing her pacifier and source of comfort.”
“Actually I called the love of mine who I was with when we got divorced, it was almost like a pacifier,” she explained. “It was that thing I just needed not because we were in love anymore but because the comfort and because my brain said, ‘oh, this feels better.”
Miley Cyrus revealed she found it comforting.
