Following the success of her mystery film “Enola Holmes,” Millie Bobby Brown expressed her desire to portray the late eclectic singer, Amy Winehouse.
In her recent interview with Netflix Latinoamérica to promote her latest film project, the 16-year-old British actress revealed that “she would love to play” the seven-time Grammy Award-winner if given a chance.
“I wouldn’t say she’s historical, but I’d love to play her. Amy Winehouse, I personally think, is like an icon to R&B, blues, and basically the whole culture of music.”
Furthermore, she mentioned that the “Back to Black” hitmaker had a huge “impact” in her life.
“I just love her music, and I really was impacted by her whole story. And so, I always say that I would love to play her.”
Millie’s career started
The brunette beauty rose to fame through her role as the gifted “Eleven” in the Netflix science fiction-horror series “Stranger Things.”
She also earned her first major award nominee as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in the Primetime Emmy Awards.
Amy Winehouse’s Number One Fan
Furthermore, in Brown’s previous interview with Jimmy Fallon in 2019, she confessed that Winhosue is her “musical influence” and had been a fan of her since he was a child.
Fallon also showed a clip of the British actress singing 2006 contemporary soul track “Valerie.”
It appears that Millie Bobby Brown is a perfect candidate for the role since she’s both a great actress and a good singer.
On the other hand, the news regarding the upcoming biopic came after Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse, declared his plans to produce a film about her daughter’s colorful and tragic life.
Earlier this year, the 69-year-old Winehouse explained to the “Morning After” podcast with host Paul Danan, that the “Rehab” songstress’ biopic is already in the works and is in the “script stage” at the time.
He also shared that the upcoming biopic would be similar to the 2018 blockbuster hit film “Bohemian Rhapsody” covering the life of Queen’s iconic frontman, Freddie Mercury, as well as the biographical musical film “Rocketman” based on the life of the British musician, Sir Elton John.
In addition, the award-winning singer’s father also revealed that the biopic would shed light in the 2015 Winehouse-based documentary “Amy” directed by filmmaker Asif Kapadia.
“We’ve got a lovely movie coming,” he mentioned, calling it as “misleading,” prompting him to “portraying Amy the way she was.”
In 2011, news broke that Amy Winehouse was found dead at her home in Camden, north London, at the age of 27.
According to multiple reports, she died due to alcohol poisoning.
