As promised, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiko Sakurai revealed the second DLC for Fighter Pass 2. This time around, fans are getting a character from one of the world’s most popular game.
During the dedicated stream, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiko Sakurai revealed that Steve from Minecraft is joining the game. He is the second character to be joining the Super Smash roster through Fighters Pass 2. Here’s everything we know so far.
Steve and friends
The reveal started very simply with some of the game’s characters duking it out. A few moments later, Mario was flung off the stage and was thrown inside a dim spot. Just as monsters were about to swarm on him, Steve from Minecraft appears. Instead of helping him, Steve locks Mario inside, hinting at his potential abilities.
Steve will be joined by Adam, Zombie, and the Enderman, who will all serve as alternate skins. Like previous characters, the game will introduce a set of new soundtracks as well as a new map. Based on what we’ve seen, it seems like the map will feature different biomes from Minecraft.
Steve’s mechanics
Sakurai didn’t reveal how Steve will work for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate just yet. Based on the trailer, it’s obvious that Steve will be able to use his craft and build various objects within the game. Fans are expecting odd mechanics for the character when he launches.
According to the director, Steve is one of the unique characters they’ve added to the game. It was easy introducing his mechanics, but the problem was making sure he was well-balanced. This has been a big problem for new characters for the game.
It feels like Steve is going to be one of the characters with a high but rewarding skills ceiling. Hopefully, he lives up to the promise with his in-game mechanics.
Fans are happy that Steve has been added to the game. They’re also glad that the developers decided to use Minecraft’s design when adding him to the game. Sakurai will reveal more details about Steve next week, so players should tune in there as well.
Now that Steve from Minecraft is joining, players are speculating who’s next. It’s a guarantee that he will be one of the popular characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate when he launches. Now, players should get the Fighters Pass if they want to get Steve.
