Speaking of the next part in the rebooted franchise that started in 2018, Misha Green will see her film debut as a director. So far, she’s only helmed the eighth episode of the HBO series Lovecraft Country. It will be interesting to see how she takes up this ample opportunity. Because if Tomb Raider 2 becomes successful, it will be good for the future of the series.
Only Alicia Vikander is confirmed to return in her titular role as a brave female adventurer Lara Croft. Beyond that, no other details are known yet, whether it’s the story, filming, or even a release date.
However, fans of the beloved gaming franchise will surely enjoy the way Misha Green showed her love for the Tomb Raider games on Twitter. It will result in a good hype in the coming months after a shooting schedule is announced.
Speaking of Green’s favorite Lara Croft title, then from the classic ones, it’s 2006’s TR: Legend. When it comes to the rebooted trilogy, she said it’s a toss-up between Rising of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
More video game movies are coming!
Meanwhile, the Alicia Vikander starrer title is not the only live-action video game adaptation coming in the future. This year seems to be the best time when more and more games witness a big screen transformation. With the upcoming Mortal Kombat and Tom Holland’s Uncharted, the stage looks pretty much set.
Then there is also the Resident Evil reboot film, slated to arrive soon this year. It will indeed begin a new franchise compared to the past entries starring Milla Jovovich. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is also among the most-awaited titles in 2021.
Back to Tomb Raider 2, the sequel will be released under Warner Bros’s banner, just like its 2018 predecessor. Due to the pandemic, it might witness an indefinite delay until the next year.
