Xiaomi has now scheduled a global launch for its hotly-anticipated MIUI 12. Here’s what you need to know about its key features.
The MIUI 12’s global launch date is now set in stone.
Weeks after Xiaomi announced the MIUI 12, the firm has now confirmed that the MIUI 12 is slated to roll out on May 12. The company took to Twitter to reveal the launch date of the newest MIUI, with a math problem to solve, no less.
A no-brainer math equation
The answer to the equation, which is 19, couldn’t have been more evident. Xiaomi opted to use two different pictures for the same number, which is a standard error amongst third-grade students in most math classes. While the month hasn’t been alluded in the equation, the month we are now in could very well be the targeted one as there is no reason as to why Xiaomi would delay it until June.
MIUI 12: Minimalism takes center stage
With MIUI 12, Xiaomi highlights what it means to experience minimalism in a user interface from a more modern perspective. This perspective is evident with its new icon pack, which is now cleaner and fully activated. The company may have overindulged in this segment as the animations across the user interface have received upgrades.
Each animation is now triggered by individual icons, which make the overall experience a lot more seamless. Meanwhile, the MIUI 12’s setting pane has also received an overhaul. This is especially true in terms of its sub-menu elements, which now sport larger texts at the top.
The MIUI 12’s Super Wallpapers are easily the flashier highlights in this segment. Xiaomi has shown off two packages that are inspired by planets Earth and Mars. The accompanying wallpapers switch the level of magnification dynamically, depending on where the user is relative to the interface.
Revamped privacy and permissions management
The MIUI 12 has also received enhanced privacy and security management features. With the current-generation UI, disabling system ads are already a single-step process. Users will have to head over to the privacy section under Settings and toggle off system ads.
MIUI 12 has also made it easy to glance at all the permission being used by applications. Additionally, a visual notification can be enabled for camera and microphone use. Also, users can now configure the system to return to a blank message to any app requesting access to messages or call logs.
Finally, the other key features of the MIUI 12 include Xiaomi’sown Focus Mode, a new Health app, sunlight mode, and an upgrade on the Mi Share app.
