Fans believe Money Heist Season 5 will be in the works, although Netflix has yet to announce the show’s renewal. With a lot of theories swirling here and there, is there a chance for Rio (Miguel Herrán) and Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó ) to end up together?
Rio and Tokyo have been a thing since the first season. However, things change when they decided to split in the third season. So, will a reconciliation happen in Money Heist Season 5?
A possible rekindled romance
Everything started in the first heist. Rio and Tokyo quickly fell in love when they tried to steal from the Royal Mint of Spain. Early on, they exchanged their real names and promised to tie the knot soon after.
They managed to continue their romance until the second season, but things changed after they pulled off the dramatic heist. So, will there be a reunion in the next installment?
In the show’s very first episode, there was a clue that fans seemed to miss, Express noted. Here, Tokyo was narrating the whole series from the future. Although the timeline of her speech wasn’t revealed, she was speaking fondly of Rio.
“Rio… He’s my weakness,” she said. She also called him the Mozart of computers, who had been coding since he was six, and had the knowledge about alarms and electronics.
“For everything else in life, it’s like he was born yesterday,” she added. Although she didn’t say anything about reconciliation, it seemed to suggest that they’re in good terms. Would it mean that they’ll have a possible rekindled romance in Money Heist Season 5 after their second heist?
A much-awaited renewal
Netflix has yet to announce a renewal, but creator and showrunner Alex Pina hints it will be in the works. “Someone knows there will be [a fifth season], but we don’t,” he told ABC Spain.
There was a nine-month gap between seasons three and four’s release, so Money Heist Season 5 could be out later this year. However, as the streaming giant suspended all the production of its original contents due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there might be a delay.
Who would be back on the show?
In the previous season, fans saw Nairobi (Alba Flores) died, but it didn’t mean she wouldn’t return to the show. Berlin (Pedro Alonso), Moscow (Paco Tous), and Oslo (Roberto Garcia) still made it on the series after their exit. So, in one way or another, viewers may again see a glimpse of their favorite falsification expert, according to NME.
Of course, El Profesor (Álvaro Morte) is expected to return, along with Lisbon (Itziar Ituño) and Denver (Jaime Lorente) in Money Heist Season 5. Fans may also continue to see Stockholm (Esther Acebo), Helsinki (Darko Peric), and Arturo (Enrique Arce).
