We’re less than a month away from the release of The Last of Us 2. Both Naughty Dog and Sony are indulging fans with new pieces of information that will get more gamers excited for Ellie and Joel’s return to the PlayStation 4.
A recent announcement reveals that Sony’s next State of Play will be all about The Last of Us 2. The stream is scheduled to take place this Wednesday, May 27, at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET / 10 PM CEST. Considering how the previous State of Play was filled with a chock-full of information for Ghost of Tsushima, fans can expect the same from Naughty Dog’s next masterpiece at the stream. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming State of Play.
New gameplay reveals and more
The last trailer for the game showcased the gameplay mechanics that players can experience once the title launches. The State of Play stream is expected to dive into these mechanics much deeper, while possibly unveiling more gameplay features that we’ve yet to see.
What’s different from this stream is that the people behind the game will be there to dive deeper into what’s currently known so far. Moreover, there are at least eight minutes of new content for a yet to be seen area from the trailers. It’s most likely that this new area plays a central part in the game, as it is yet to be revealed. Of course, what makes it even more special is that it might serve as the highlight in the next State of Play.
Everything we know so far
The previous trailer for The Last of Us 2 focused entirely on the new features of the game, whereas the one before it highlighted the story elements and themes surrounding the next journey.
The gameplay for the sequel is an improvement from the original The Last of Us, but of course, Naughty Dog has tweaked combat in a way to make Ellie more nimble and agile as compared to Joel. Some of the new features include the ability to go prone, a dedicated jump button, and the ability to hide under cars.
As for exploration, Naughty Dog notes that players won’t be able to see everything on their first playthrough. The explorable world has been expanded to accommodate the feature.
The upcoming State of Play is sure to give more hype behind the upcoming title. The Last of Us 2 launches on June 19 for the PlayStation 4.
