Motorola Razr drops price in anticipation for Samsung Galaxy Flip 5G

Motorola Razr is challenging the upcoming release of the Samsung Galaxy Flip 5G with a massive $500 price drop.

The Motorola Razr is one of the first foldable phones to deliver smooth functionalities. Following the disaster that is Galaxy Fold, Samsung is taking a shot at it again with the Galaxy Flip 5G.

Motorola is pushing the boundaries of its flagship foldable smartphone. The upgrade to Android 10 brings in several new functionalities and security updates. Moreover, Motorola said that it will work to have the Razr support the upcoming Android 11.

The best foldable smartphone

Many in the tech community believe that Motorola rushed the release of the Razr. Following its release, the Razr did not reach the high expectations it set to meet. However, it appears that Motorola is only concerned with being first to the market.

For one, the Motorola Razr runs on a rather outdated operating system following its release. It is only recently that Motorola rolled out the Android 10 update that made the phone up to date. Moreover, the Razr lacks a couple of groundbreaking features that Samsung is planning to embed within the Galaxy Flip 5G.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Flip 5G, despite being late to the party, promises a lot of functionality. The foldable smartphone is expected to launch with full 5G support. Considering its predecessor, the phone will launch with a powerful Snapdragon 855+ chipset, 256GB storage, and 8GB of memory.

A race to gain market share

With a $500 price drop, the Motorola Razr now costs around $999. The price drop is the first since its official launch in February. Motorola is aggressively marketing its foldable phone and even went out to offer a two-for-price-of-one deal.

It comes as no surprise why Motorola is dropping the price of its flagship product. The market is in high anticipation for the upcoming release of the Galaxy Flip 5G. It appears that Motorola just wants to snatch more market share before the Flip 5G hits the market.

Recently, the foldable smartphone industry is getting a lot of new models and competition. Aside from the upcoming Galaxy Flip 5G release, Microsoft’s Surface Duo is also due later this year.

Lenovo recently confirms that a new Motorola Razr model is due to hit the market in September. If this is the case, then Motorola is probably just aggressively marketing its current model to sell out its stocks.
