The crime thriller, Mr. Mercedes, has found a new home in NBCUniversal’s streaming platform – Peacock. Moreover, Peacock recently launched on July 15, 2020, with 15 million subscribers.
The show originally aired on Audience Network but was stopped due to the network’s mandatory shut down in January 2020. The move to Peacock breathed new life into the recently defunct television series. Besides, the first two seasons of Mr. Mercedes will finally stream via Peacock on Oct. 15, 2020.
While exclusively streaming via Peacock, season 1 and 2 are accessible via Hoopla. The entire trilogy is also available for purchase in iTunes, Google Play, Vudu, and Amazon. Unfortunately, Mr. Mercedes is currently not available on Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime.
“Mr. Mercedes” synopsis
Bill Hodges was way into enjoying his retirement when psychopath Brady Hartsfield started sending him emails and taunting him as he was one of the detective’s cold cases. The constant emails made Bill Hodges fear for his life. As a result, Hodges seeks out Hartsfield to protect his life and that of his loved ones.
I'm very excited that Peacock is doing the first 3 seasons of MR. MERCEDES. I love this one, and am glad I can share it with a wider audience! https://t.co/nNPJu5SOVM

What started as an online cat-and-mouse game between retired detective Bill Hodges and Mr. Mercedes became a full-blown catch-me-if-you-can plot as Mr. Mercedes goes on a killing spree. Brady Hartsfield gained the moniker after he drove a stolen Mercedes into a line of job-seekers. He not only claimed sixteen lives but also injured a dozen more.
Stephen Kings appear in the first installment
The show features a cameo appearance of Stephen King in the “People in the Rain” episode of the first installment. He appears as a chef of a diner in one of Brady’s daydreams but was immediately killed along with a butcher’s knife to his neck with the other diners.

Though the show is an adaptation of Stephen King’s trilogy novel based on the character of Mr. Mercedes, the series differs from the book in many ways. Surprisingly, the series brought in new characters, and adjustments were made in the plots for each episode.
Brendan Gleeson stars as Bill Hodges, and Harry Treadaway play the gruesome serial killer Brady Hartsfield. Joining them are Kelly Lynch, Ann Cusack, Tessa Ferrer, and Jack Huston, among others.
“Mr. Mercedes” season 3 and 4 status
The premiere date for the third installment of Mr. Mercedes is still to be determined. Likewise, its renewal under Peacock for a fourth installment is still awaiting an official announcement. Avid fans need not fear as fair competition would enviably dictate the production of a fourth season.
