The release of My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission is getting near and the franchise has now dropped a special prequel manga.
As a lot is happening in the franchise, a special new manga chapter drops to set up the events of My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission. It shows Izuku Midoriya, Shoto Todoroki and Katsuki Bakugo preparing for their new mission.
The Trio’s Important Mission
According to Comicbook, the new chapter takes place during the trio’s time working with Endeavor.
The three take a test to join the new world-spanning mission for the World Heroes Association.
The prequel is titled My Hero Academia Special Spin-Off: Endeavor’s Mission. It is written and illustrated by one of Kohei Horikoshi’s assistants, Yoko Akiyama.
Akiyama works on the special My Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions spin-off. Here, Midoriya, Todoroki and Bakugo have been put into an ultimate test against Endeavor.
This will lead to the new mission fans are about to see in My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission.

A Special Part of the Canon
Meanwhile, there are questions if My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission is officially part of the franchise’s canon.
Movie adaptations are usually out of the official canon, telling an original story. But, the success of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train has changed the tide of the game.
Canon films are now gaining traction nowadays, so fans wonder if the new MHA will be the same.
CBR noted the movie is an original story, not based on any existing material. Horikoshi oversees the film, though, so he can bring the franchise’s elements into the movie.
In fact, the anime’s recent Episode 16, which is also not based on the manga, has officially set up the film’s story.
Here, Ryuku, Selkie, Ochaco and Tsuyu intercept drug smugglers. The bad guys hold an unidentified illegal substance that can intensify someone’s Quirk to a dangerous degree.
It is the same method the Humanizers in the movie’s trailer is seen doing.
The same episode’s post-credits scene also confirms the events of the movie will be indeed part of the franchise’s official canon.
The movie’s main antagonist makes an appearance here and says the heroes have stopped his chance to have more of the illegal drug. He is in the same room the Humanizers are in the trailer, proving the story is part of the franchise.
My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission will hit the theaters on Aug. 6.
