The 2K Games schedule for the NBA 2K21 release will roll out alongside the release of the next-gen consoles—the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The NBA 2K game series is a popular game franchise. Similar to that of the NHL and FIFA. It already has a massive fanbase, because of the sports fans. The way the heat is raising the roof this basketball season, NBA 2K21 will truly be a game to look out for.

NBA 2K21 release dates

Based on its recently posted schedule, Xbox Series X and S owners will be getting the game first upon the release of the consoles on November 10. The NBA 2K21 Xbox release will immediately be global.

Meanwhile, PlayStation 5 has two release dates for the NBA title. The game will be released on the day of the launch of PS5, so on November 12. However, this release is only limited to a few countries such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea.

For the rest of the world, the NBA 2K21 release date is on November 19.

Meanwhile, the current-gen copy of the game has been out since early September, per Gamespot.

Readers should note that the next-gen version of the game is $10 more than the current-gen copy. The price increase has long been a debate.

The gaming publication further notes that players can still run the 2K21 current-gen title on PS5 and Xbox Series X via backward compatibility. For those who’d like to upgrade to the next-gen, the outlet reports that they must the “$100 Mamba Forever edition,” which is a special edition.

The price increase has long been a debate.

Nonetheless, it should be noted that the next-gen versions are “built from the ground up.” Although the price increase was somehow suspected to arise, considering how high-end the upcoming consoles are.

Cover athletes

This new title is something special as seen last July when the publisher announced this year’s cover athletes. Portland Trailblazer’s Damian Lillard and New Orleans Pelicans’ forward Zion Williamson are this year’s cover athletes.

Per NBA, Lillard will be the face of NBA 2K21 for the current-gen consoles—PS4 and Xbox One—and Nintendo Switch. Meanwhile, Williamson will be the game’s next-gen consoles cover.

2K decided to honor the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant as this year’s special edition, called “Mamba Forever Edition.”

For those still undecided, reviews of the game on the current-gen consoles are already emerging online.
