The NBA announced that an NBA bubble MVP and two All-seeding games teams would be awarded before the play-in games for the Playoffs begin.
The quality of entertainment from the NBA bubble has been top-notch by far. Fans have been treated to spectacular tight games. Some of them even gave a preview of what’s to come in the Playoffs.
The league is no stranger to surprises when it comes to players that rise up to the challenge. Night in and night out, there could be one or two players that surprise the league. Remember Jeremy Lin? His run was so dramatic that the New York Knicks had a glimpse of hope for the future. Unfortunately, it ended too soon.
Playing at a high level is always the mantra of players. Some just took it up a notch in the bubble, and the NBA plans to reward them.
NBA bubble MVP award and All Team award
The league announced that a bubble MVP would be named before the play-in games start on Saturday. Also, two All-teams will be named with five players each. Their performance in the bubble will be the sole basis of the accolades.
These awards will be the first of its kind. It would seem like this is the way for the league to put forth inclusivity considering stats in the bubble do not count for the regular awards.
Players will be chosen by the reporters and broadcasters who are inside the bubble. Each will vote for five players each for the First Team and the Second Team. They can vote for any combination of players from the Eastern and the Western Conference.
Of course, familiar names will crowd the voting. Players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Luka Doncic have been playing at their usual highly competitive levels. Damian Lillard also will definitely be in the mix considering what he’s accomplished so far.
Honorable mentions for the awards
As mentioned earlier, some players have brought their A-games in the bubble. T.J. Warren tops the list with his out-of-this-world run from the start of the bubble. He scored like a mad man in four out of six games they’ve played so far. His best one came by way of a 53-point outing against the 76ers. In that game, he sank and absurd 9 out of 12 three-point markers.
Devin Booker also deserves mention in the mix. He’s carried his team to a perfect 7-0 run, which could ultimately land them in the play-in games. He scored 27 or more points in six out of the seven games. Booker also sank a crucial game-winning shot against the Los Angeles Clippers in front of Paul George.
Other worthy mentions for the awards include Kristaps Porzingis, Anthony Davis, and Jayson Tatum, to name a few.
