The NBA Playoffs will arrive as soon as the seeding games finish, and there will be an exciting showcase of young talent in the mix.
The first few NBA scrimmage games were mainly to check how the new gameplay will work. It looked great. Now it’s time to focus on the main matter at hand. Every NBA player dreams to become a champion sometime in their careers. Those dreams are made possible during the Draft night.
The past three Draft classes have produced quality players for the NBA. Some of them are even leading their teams for their Playoffs debut. Below are three teams to look out for in the Playoffs that have a young leader in front of the pack.
NBA Playoffs debut for Luka Doncic
Luka Doncic will be leading the Mavericks to the Playoffs this year. The last time they made it to the first round was still in 2016. That seems like eons ago. Fortunately, they have a new leader on the floor with Luka Doncic. He’s joined by Latvian superstar Kristaps Porzingis and a solid team of veterans.
Doncic is fortunate enough to have JJ Barea, the only remnant of the 2011 championship team, to have as a mentor. He’s also lucky to be under the tutelage of Rick Carlisle as their head coach. Although the deck is stacked against Luka, he will look to fight tooth and nail for an upset early in the Playoffs.
Ja Morant and the surprising Grizzlies
Morant and the Grizzlies are hanging by their nails for the eighth spot in the Western Conference Playoffs picture. Zion is charging up ahead and is showing no signs of making Morant’s debut a walk in the park. Nonetheless, the Grizzlies have a cushion of three games ahead of the Pelicans.
Barring any meltdown during the seeding stage, Morant could make his NBA Playoffs debut in his young rookie career. It will also be a sight to see how he can withstand the juggernaut team of the Los Angeles Lakers. Lebron James is relentless during the Playoffs. No young aspirations can distract him as his legacy is on the line.
Zion Williamson hype
No conversation about this year’s rookie class is complete without mentioning the name of Zion Williamson. The man is pure hype. At his rookie year, he’s already made it on the cover the 2k21. Barring any injuries throughout his career, he is even being primed as one of the greats in the basketball world.
If he and his solid Pelicans team can pull off a miracle, Zion could also make his Playoffs debut. With such a small sample size of 19 games, Williamson has shown what type of a player he is. He is strong and takes the ball away from an opponent’s hand like a candy.
As such, if he continues to bring the same passion and energy inside the NBA Playoffs, he just might live up to his rookie career hype.
