EA revealed today that Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is coming. After a ton of hinting, the game slated to come out this coming November.
Players should act surprised after EA’s “subtle” hinting at a forthcoming announcement. Initial speculation is correct that the upcoming title will be Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered. Criterion’s 2010 game will now come to both PC and consoles.
“Hot Pursuit Remastered” will come early to mid-November
The remaster of the original 2010 title will be available for PC and console alike. Unlike the console, the PC version will be a full 25% cheaper at US$30. The game will be available on Steam and Origin. There’s no information if it will come over to the Game Pass yet.
For the PC, Xbox, and PS4, the game will launch on November 6, right before the next-gen console release. The Switch will also get a copy on a later date, slated for November 13.
All versions will have cross-play and cross-progression, which means players can enjoy races with all platforms. The remaster will include every DLC ever added to the game.
“Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered includes all main DLC – the SCPD Rebel Racer Pack, Super Sports Pack, Armed & Dangerous Pack, Lamborghini Untamed Pack, and Porsche Unleashed Pack – delivered at launch, with an extra six hours of gameplay and more than 30 challenges,” said the official post.
“We’ve added brand new achievements, car colors, wraps, reduced hard stops, an updated photo mode and gallery, and multiple quality of life updates, too, to create an even more well-rounded gameplay experience this time around.”
Visuals for new “NFS” revamped to full 4K
The visuals for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered will look superb. On the PC, it will support a full 4K 60fps, though there’s no word on unlocked frames or other resolutions. It will feature more pristine car models, longer draw distance, and more.
“The Nintendo Switch version runs at 1080p/30 FPS in docked mode (720p/30 FPS undocked) and includes higher-resolution models, more objects and props, longer draw distance, higher resolution shadows, and improved videos,” detailed the post.
“Depending on your specifications, 4K/60 FPS is supported on PC, and players can choose between 4K/30 FPS or 1080p/60 FPS on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X. Base versions of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will run the game at 1080p/30 FPS. In addition to the listed improvements for the Nintendo Switch version, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions are also updated with upressed UI, higher resolution reflections, boosted textures, more particles, and improved AA/SSAO.”
The original NFS: Hot Pursuit is no longer available for digital downloads. There’s no word for any bonuses or discounts for owners of the original game. Even then, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is a must-play for the nostalgia.
