Netflix has made its intentions clear to create epic fantasy-dramas that will grip subscribers worldwide. For starters, The Witcher series premiered on the platform last December 2019 and has garnered immense popularity. For 2020, Cursed is set to arrive in the streaming platform’s library.
Cursed series overview
The streaming giant has described Cursed as a coming-of-age story whose themes are familiar to modern times. Its plot takes inspiration from issues such as obliteration of the natural world, religious terror, senseless war, and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.
Specifically, the forthcoming series is a reimagination of the Arthurian Legend, which is based on the New York Times bestselling book of the same title. The story unfurls through the eyes of Nimue, a young woman with a mysterious gift.
After the death of her mother, Nimue enlists the help of Arthur, a young mercenary, to ascend the throne of Camelot, on her quest. Together, they will deliver an ancient and powerful sword to Merlin the Wizard. Throughout her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins and their complicit King, Uther.
