Netflix is cancelling 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina'

Netflix has decided that the upcoming fourth part of its hit series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will be its last.

The announcement was made through the show’s official Twitter page, which not only featured several stills from the upcoming season, but also noted that this year will see the release of the program’s final chapter.

The so-called final chapter will deliver a total of eight episodes, and although no release dates have been disclosed yet, these episodes are expected to become available for streaming later this year.

Impressive three-year run

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was originally intended as a spin-off of Riverdale, to be shown at The CW network.

But then Netflix acquired the rights and basically allowed showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to get as spooky and quirky as he can with regards to the series’ tone and subject matter.

In the show’s first season, the initial 19 episodes were divided into two parts that streamed in 2018 and 2019.

Then earlier this year, the second season began with Part 3, which came with eight episodes. As announced by Netflix, the upcoming eight episodes will make up Part 4, which should conclude the show.

The show mostly met positive reviews from critics, who lauded the series’ mixture of camp and wicked, even macabre humor.

A streaming hit by any measure, the program also made a star out of Kiernan Shipka, who audiences mostly only saw previously as a supporting character in the award-winning AMC show Mad Men.

Reaction from the cast and crew

With the news that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will be concluding through Part 4, the filmmakers and cast have started to post their reactions on social media.

Sabrina herself, Kiernan Shipka, has posted in her Instagram account a picture of herself along with two rather fine-looking gentlemen from hell.

As for showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, he expressed his gratitude and pride for everyone involved in the production:

Fans not giving up just yet

As for those faithfully following the hit series, it appears that they’re not ready to throw in the towel just yet.

Fans have launched a new campaign through, basically demanding Netflix to reverse its decision of canceling Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

As of this writing, the online petition has already acquired more than 30,000 signatures, and it now only needs less than five thousand to reach its target of 35,000 signatures.
